MEDICARE

Stream my appearance below on the Estate Planning & Elder Law Hour radio show discussing the basics of Medicare.

Medicare’s website medicare.gov has a lot of very helpful resources and can answer many questions about the general structure of Medicare.  Here is the Federal Government’s Medicare and You 2022 booklet.

If you need to enroll into Medicare A & B you can do so before the month you turn 65 at socialsecurity.gov – click Menu and then Medicare to find the area to proceed to setting up an account on mySocialSecurity and enrolling. You can also call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213.

IF YOU DELAYED YOUR MEDICARE PART B

If you delayed Part B due to working past 65, you will need some Social Security forms to start your Part B.  Fill out the SS Enroll Part B Form to take into a local Social Security office.  You will also need to have your employer or Human Resources department sign this form SS Employer Part B showing your dates of group coverage after turning 65 to bring with you as well.  Take both completed forms to a local Social Security office.  You can also upload these forms if the offices are closed to http://www.ssa.gov/Medicare-PartB-SEP
